93

The 2013 Metisse Jumping Goat Vineyard (78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petit Verdot and 7% Merlot) from this vineyard in St. Helena was coiled and tightly knit, but showing loads of upside and potential. An opaque ruby/purple color and notes of strained blackcurrants, camphor and licorice were all present in this full-bodied wine, which also has a subtle dose of toasty oak (about 70% new French barrels are used). This wine needs another 2-3 years of cellaring and should keep well for two decades or more.

Product Description:

"The 2013 vintage will most likely go down in history as one of the best for the Napa Valley and this site, despite the grandness of the vintage, has stayed true to its style that is inherent from the vineyard. So much like the Graves area in Bordeaux, the wine is perfumy, layered and rich without being overripe. Aromatics of dark fruit, plum and spice with notes of chocolate and violet are made prevalent in a wine that exhibits denseness, opulence and softness. There is almost a merlot-ish quality to the wine even though it represents only 5% of the blend. A stunning wine with too many nuances to describe, a must have for any collector." - Winery
