Very deep, dark, red/purple colour. The bouquet is quite oaky, licoricey and very ripe, with almost desiccated fruit character and a peppery note. This is mirrored on the palate, which is coarse-grained and earthy, chewy, big and slightly clunky. It has undoubted concentration but no great pretence to elegance. 10 Jun 2020
Product Description:
Immediately engaging, you can feel the
130-year-old vines playing with your
senses. Mellow aromas of mulberry, black
cherry and potpourri gently enliven the
nose. The depth and complexity of the
aroma tell you all you need to know about
the pedigree of this wine.
While dark and brooding at heart, the
palate is surprisingly lifted, with aged
cherry liquor and bitter chocolate playing
against each other. The mid-palate is
generous yet understated, the structure
delicate and complex. The quality of this
wine means it will be a great drink at any
age, but you would certainly be rewarded
by giving it a bit of time in the cellar. - Winery
