2020 Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir Isabelle Pinot Noir from United States
#141442 750 mL
2020 Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir Isabelle
94 Antonio Galloni - Vinous
The 2020 Pinot Noir Isabelle is a blend of the best barrels across all the vineyards Au Bon Climat sources from. Dark and enveloping, the Isabelle has a ton to offer. Dark red/purplish fruit, spice, lavender and licorice are nicely pushed forward. There's minimal stem inclusion here, and that comes through in the wine's lush fruit and supple contours.

1996 Ronchi Di Cialla Ciallabianco Library Release
93 Eric Guido - Vinous Media
Remarkably pretty and floral, the warm vintage 1996 Ciallabianco is a finessed and delicate effort with spearmint and almond custard suggestions embellishing ripe peach. It's soothingly round with a salty tinge and fresh acidity. A savory wave of pit fruits and green citrus tones settle on the palate. The 1996 tapers off with tension, long and staining yet still fresh and lightly structured. This is in a gorgeous place, and there is no fear of decline.

93 Antonio Galloni - Vinous
“The 2018 Pinot Noir Flax Vineyard shows a more red-toned profile than the other Pinots in the range. Cedar, iron, dried herbs, anise and leather add an attractive upper register. This mid-weight, expressive Pinot offers terrific persistence and long, clean finish.”

97 Decanter
A collaboration project between Dalla Valle Vineyards of Napa Valley and Ornellaia of Tuscany. This is the third release, and despite the challenging vintage, winemaker Maya Dalla Valle and founder and proprietor Naoko Dalla Valle, along with winemaker Axel Heinz and CEO Giovanni Geddes da Filicaja of Ornellaia have produced one of the standout wines of the vintage. Effusive blackberry aromas are intermixed with graphite, cassis, liquorice, toasty cedar wood and tanned leather. This is a seamless wine with superb structure, freshness, and depth of character. Medium to full-bodied with rich dark cassis, loamy earth, elegant, fine-grained tannins, dusted wild herbs, brown spices, and a fabulously long mocha-tinged finish. It almost defies gravity—dense and powerful, yet with a tremendous lightness of energy. Sold in 3-pack wooden boxes.
96+ Joe Czerwinski - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Loaded with scents of blueberries, black cherries and cassis underpinned by a framework of cedary oak, DVO's 2020 Red Wine is a 300-case blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Merlot aged 23 months in 60% new French oak. Full-bodied without being overly high octane, it shows admirable suppleness and ripe tannins. A blend of fruit from Oakville and Coombsville, it's almost creamy-rich in texture on the palate, then lingers elegantly on the lengthy finish. Nicely done!
95 Jeb Dunnuck - jebdunnuck.com
Coming from a collaboration between the team at Dalla Valle and Ornellaia in Italy, the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon yet includes 7% Merlot, and this cuvée is sourced from throughout the valley. It's a brilliant 2020 that I'd be happy to drink. Cassis, darker currants, spicy wood, and chocolate all define the aromatics, and it has terrific purity and elegance. Full-bodied, concentrated, and textured, it has some building tannins that warrant short-term cellaring, but it should have two decades of longevity.
95 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
A very fine-tannined red with blackcurrants, blueberries and lead-pencil shavings. Medium to full body, silky tannins and a fresh, flavorful finish. Lovely now and can age in the future. Joint venture wine from Tuscany’s Ornellaia and Napa’s Dalla Valle. Drink or hold.

#142766 750 mL
2019 Accendo Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon
99 Jeb Dunnuck - jebdunnuck.com
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is similarly deep purple-hued and has a killer nose of cr me de cassis, spicy wood tobacco leaf, and graphite. It too is rich, full-bodied, and concentrated, with that classic 2019 broad, expansive, sexy mouthfeel to go with plenty of velvety tannins on the finish. It will evolve for at least two decades.
98+ Joe Czerwinski - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Sourced from six different Napa Valley vineyards and a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon from Accendo is a dark, cassis-laden effort tinged with violets and black tea. Full-bodied, rich, velvety and tannic, it shows lovely harmony and structure, ample but not overdone concentration and tremendous length and elegance.
98 Antonio Galloni - Vinous
Accendo's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is every bit as alluring as it was from barrel. Plush and sensual, with no hard edges, the 2019 possesses magnificent balance from start to finish. Dark-fleshed fruit, spice, leather, tobacco and menthol build as this sumptuous, racy Cabernet shows off its tremendous charm. Best of all, the 2019 offers quite a bit of immediacy. I would choose to drink it ahead of some of the more structured recent vintages. As always, the Accendo Cabernet is a blend of several top sites in Napa Valley.
98 Jonathan Cristaldi - Decanter Magazine
Tasted with Bart Araujo at Wheeler Farms, the 'Rolls Royce of custom crush facilities', as described by Accendo winemaker Nigel Kinsman. Bart and wife Daphne established Wheeler Farms after selling their Araujo Estate (now Eisele Vineyard) to the Artemis Group. Grapes are sourced from Vine Hill Ranch, Sleeping Lady in Rutherford, Eco Tone (a former Abreu property), and a site on Diamond Mountain formerly known as Reverie. Generous blackberry fruit aromas are tinged with wild herbs and heady cedar spices. Broad and expansive on the palate with saturated dark fruit, cassis, graphite and wild herbs. Rustic, elongated tannins glide to a savoury finish.

Welcome to the wild side of pinot gris, but don’t imagine for a second that this is a lush wine. In spite of all the power, this is super-cool and tense. If you have the patience, then let yourself sink into this incredibly dense and compact dry wine. Massive dark minerality in the extremely long finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Salted quincy kind of fruit, with a touch of green olive skin and mineral nuances. Lovely texture, quite refreshing. (Silver) - DWWA 2024

Assyrtiko from a single vineyard in Imerovigli. Unoaked. Smells rather different from the Santorini Assyrtiko, more smoky/mineral and less fruity in the aroma. In the mouth, deep and chewy, masses of freshness and excellent intensity and length. Still a little bit disjointed and needs time.

2021 Cakebread Benchland Select Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Sauvignon from United States
#143567 750 mL
2021 Cakebread Benchland Select Cabernet Sauvignon
All Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Benchland Select comes from both Rutherford and Oakville fruit and spent 22 months in 56% new French oak. This brings another level of precision and focus compared to the Suscol Springs, and the wine has a stunning array of black raspberries, spicy oak, lead pencil shavings, and exotic baking spice and floral nuances. Medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, and elegant, it has ultra-fine tannins, perfectly integrated background oak, and a great finish. It has plenty of structure and will benefit from 3-4 years of bottle age and should still be going strong at age 20.
93+ Joe Czerwinski - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Cakebread's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Benchland Select blends five clones from two different vineyards to yield bold scents of black cherries, cassis and mocha but also some redder berries. It's medium to full-bodied, edging just past 14% alcohol while still seeming generous and silky in feel, finishing long and harmonious, with a dusting of fine-grained tannins.
93 Wine Spectator
Ripe and polished, with juicy underlying energy to the mix of black currant and blackberry fruit flavors. Light hints of violet, apple wood and warm earth peek through as this red's solid grip holds the finish. Best from 2025 through 2036. 1,400 cases made.

2014 Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte Rouge
96 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
A big black-cherry and bitter-chocolate nose leads into a rich, concentrated palate, where the fruit easily holds sway over the powerful, dry tannins. It’s these that drive everything along right through to the assertive, slightly earthy finish; impressive long-term stuff!
96 Roger Voss - Wine Enthusiast
This is a powerful wine, made to age for a long time, from this estate which is performing in top gear. Complex tannins and dark fruits both make their presence felt. It has weight, ripeness and a dense structure. A great success, it is unlikely to be ready to drink before 2027.
95 Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
They know how to deliver sleek, poised and subtly gourmet wines even in the more austere vintages at Smith Haut Lafitte, and this is delicious, great quality, fine but firm tannins, opening up but still focus on primary fruits, cassis and blueberry, grilled oak, lovely stuff with a mouthwatering finish. 80% new oak, Fabien Teitgen technical director.

2021 Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
Slated for a September 2024 release, Spottswoode's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon comes across as more vibrant, floral and fresh than the 2020. Violet and cassis notes are accented by hints of crushed stone and pencil shavings on the nose. Hugely complex yet harmonious, this medium-bodied effort is firm but silky in feel, with a long, elegant finish. Lovely stuff.

2019 Val Di Suga Brunello Di Montalcino Poggio Al Granchio
95 Monica Larner - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
From a site with schistic galestro clay soils, the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Poggio al Granchio is definitely the most complete and complex of these new releases from 2019 by Val di Suga. Fruit comes from an 18-hectare vineyard located at 430 to 450 meters in elevation. The wine offers more oozing richness and concentration in line with the character of the vintage with sweet cherry, blackberry, toasted cumin seed and pressed rose. This estate does a good job of maintaining the freshness of Sangiovese. Some 12,000 bottles were made.
