2020 Raymond Usseglio Chateauneuf Du Pape Cuvee Imperiale
95+ Joe Czerwinski - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
From a parcel of vines planted in 1902 (almost entirely Grenache but with a few other varieties sprinkled throughout), the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Imperiale is aromatically complex, with hints of piney, resinous herbs, rose petals, stone fruit, cherry and pomegranate. Full-bodied, the wine seems supple at first, but then tannins rise on the finish, turning it dry and dusty. Give it time. Tasted twice (once blind), with consistent notes.

Displays potent, mineral-accented dark berry preserve, olive paste and incense aromas that are complemented by floral oil, pipe tobacco and exotic spice flourishes. Chewy, densely packed and sharply focused on the palate, offering intense, spice-laced blackberry, blueberry, bitter cherry, violet pastille and smoky bacon flavors that turn livelier with air. Closes on an emphatic mineral note, with solid thrust, gripping tannins and superb, floral-tinged persistence.

The 2021 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard is fabulous. A Chardonnay of stature and textural finesse, the 2021 is super-expressive right out of the gate. There's gorgeous oiliness and nuance here. Ritchie is one of the great sites in the Russian River Valley. Vibrant mineral notes play off the wine's notable richness. This is a fine example.

This is beautifully polished with firm, dusty tannins to the blue fruit, as well as chocolate and cedar character. Some much earthier character, too, from mushrooms to bark. Forest flowers. Perfumed. It’s full-bodied with round tannins and a soft, creamy finish. Some iron and iodine to this. So attractive at the finish. From biodynamically grown grapes.

This is an exceptional vintage of this exceptional wine, its foundation built around 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, with dustings of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Beautiful in berry fruit, textured and refined tannin and hints of lavender, licorice and sage, it has complexity and energy in equal measure, lengthy and beautifully focused, a truly impressive achievement of site, vintage and winemaker.

A juicy, energetic version, with mouthwatering damson plum, cherry and blackberry coulis flavors darting through, accented by iron and white pepper hints. There's some floral lift on the finish that marries deftly with the fruit, as does the bright, chalky minerality. Best from 2023 through 2035. 200 cases made, 20 cases imported. — JM

2019 Vietti Barolo Cerequio
98 Antonio Galloni - Vinous
The 2019 Barolo Cerequio is a worthy follow up to the stellar 2018. Aromatic and deeply pitched, the 2019 races across the palate with remarkable depth and intensity. Crushed red berry fruit, rose petal, mint and cinnamon all open in the glass, but it is the wine's silkiness and suppleness that impresses most. A kick of acids and tannins puts an exclamation point on the finish. This is a gorgeous Cerequio that takes all the finesse this site offers, and then turns up the volume. What a wine.

Glass-staining violet. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe, mineral-accented red and blue fruits, candied flowers and baking spices. Concentrated but lively as well, offering alluringly sweet black raspberry, blueberry and fruitcake flavors braced by a spine of juicy acidity. Shows fine clarity and spicy thrust on the impressively long finish, which strongly echoes the blue fruit and floral notes.

#141977 750 mL
2020 Conterno Fantino Barolo Vigna Pressenda
96 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
One of the richer, rounder and more mouth-filling Barolos, this expansive wine fills its nicely firm structure with intricate layers of red cherries, orange peel, raspberry and cedar. While full-bodied and broad in texture, it has the signature fine-grained tannins for improvement with time. Best from 2029 and beyond.
94 Jeb Dunnuck - jebdunnuck.com
The 2020 Barolo Vigna Pressenda is medium ruby in color and brings forward detailed and elegant notes of raspberries, leather, and fresh roses, as well as umami porcini tones. Approachable and refined, this medium-bodied Barolo is all about finesse. It has a wide drinking window ahead of it, and its fantastic stony texture and ultrafine tannins will allow it to cruise gracefully over the next 12-15 years.
The 2020 Barolo Castelletto Vigna Pressenda is a delicate, elegant wine. Crushed rose petal, orange peel, white pepper, mint and crushed rocks all grace this gorgeous, translucent Barolo. All the elements are so nicely balanced. There is a feeling of crystalline purity here that is simply beguiling. It is the most ethereal and perfumed of the Barolos here. The 2020 is all class.
94 Monica Larner - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The Conterno Fantino 2020 Barolo Castelletto Vigna Pressenda shows rich dark fruit, licorice, spa cedar and sweet oak spice. There is a certain fullness to the palate with a hint of vanilla extract, with sweet blueberry cream and cherry pie. The tannins carry a slightly toasted note, but they remain fine grained and nicely integrated overall. Production is 6,600 bottles.

2015 Quinta Vale Dona Maria Douro Red Port Varieties from Portugal
#142945 1.5L
2015 Quinta Vale Dona Maria Douro Red
95 Mark Squires - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2015 Tinto (Quinta Vale D. Maria) is a field blend from old vines (some 41 different grapes on vines averaging some 60 years in age) aged for 21 months in 65% new French oak. It comes in at 15% alcohol. When first seen, this was in bottle but not for long. Let's check in. Dense and very ripe, this intense estate tinto is a blockbuster. It's a little warm and very powerful. Not showing a whole lot of development, this really needs to be tossed into the cellar for a few more years. I would like to see more evidence that it can hold its balance well as it ages. There's a lot going on here. It's a big, big wine—hopefully not too big. It still looks like a winner, but it may be in a funny place. Right now, the 2016 and the 2017 show far better. This 2015 should be a lot more appealing around 2025.
93 Wine Enthusiast
The estate wine from this property sums up the structure and density that it can produce. This full-bodied, super-ripe wine is also packed with tannins giving the fruit structure and reining in the richness. The result is a powerful wine that has style and even elegance. Drink from 2020.
